The town registered a daily mean of 11.2 degrees, which is 0.5 degree lower than the long term average 11.7.
Ararat couldn’t climb to double figures on a handful of days.
The lowest daily maximum of 8.5 degrees was recorded twice (July 14 and 19).
The month’s warmest day occurred on July 10 when the temperature reached 15 degrees.
Overnight minimums also made for bitter awakenings.
The July 2015 average of 2.4 degrees was the lowest overnight mean since 1998 and a degree lower than the long term average 3.4.
The mercury dropped below freezing on seven occasions, compared to five in 2014.
Ararat’s coldest morning came mid month when a spine chilling –3.2 degrees (July 19) was followed by –3.6 degrees (July 20).
Don’t put away the extra blankets just yet, August is on average just as cold, if not colder than July.
