The weather was a huge improvement on previous school shoots held at the Ararat Clay Target Club, with the forecast sunny and still, making conditions perfect for participants.
Sevens schools were represented on the day, with students attending from Beaufort College, Lake Bolac P-12 College, Camperdown Mercy College, Stawell Secondary College, Terang Secondary College, Colac Trinity College and Marian College.
A total of 43 shooters took part in the day, all of which conducted themselves in good sporting behaviour and enjoyed the atmosphere of competition.
Ararat's leading local junior shooter, Tom Pilgrim again did well hitting 19 out of 20 targets.
This excellent achievement put Pilgrim in equal first position with James Hayden from Terang, for the Senior Boys' division.
A decider shoot off was conducted at the end of the competition, with Hayden relegating Pilgrim into second place.
At the conclusion of the event all students and parents thanked Graeme Leslie, Gary Grant and Gary Hargreaves, Ken Malcom, Arthur Champneys, Len Cook and Andrew Pilgrim for setting everything up and running the competition.
Students from Ararat and district will now be looking forward to the South West Zone on Thursday, August 27.
