Sitting in sixth position on the ladder, the 47 to 40 goal win keeps the Pumas only one game off the pace and within striking distance of the top five.

The Pumas led for almost the entire match, with some strong passages of play down the court – generated by centre Georgie Eastrick – helping the home side’s attack make the most of their opportunities.

For the Bulldogs it was Linda Coutts that kept the team in touch, while Courtney McCrow battled hard in defence throughout the four quarters.

In other matches, Tatyoon took the points against Lismore/Derrinallum (51 to 43) with Jane Astbury named the Hawks’ best player for providing plenty of drive through the midcourt and delivering accurately into the goalies.

Tatyoon’s Simone King also continued her good form and played a close checking game on the Demons prolific scorer Stephanie Burns.

Wickliffe/Lake Bolac scored its second win of the season with a comfortable victory over Great Western – 53 to 35.

Kim Thom and Simone McDonald worked tirelessly for the Magpies to be named in the best, while Great Western’s solid performers included Mollie Simpson at goal shooter and Courtney Morrow.

Despite the best efforts of Jamie-Lee Bennett and Alana Jenkins, the Ararat Eagles went down to Penshurst by 20 goals.
