The dinosaur romp has topped the box office for the third consecutive weekend, taking another $5.1 million to reach $38.1 million.
With a strong average of more than $10,000 a cinema, the Steven Spielberg produced sequel is closing in fast on the two most popular movies in Australian cinemas this year - The Avengers: Age of Ultron ($40 million) and Fast and Furious 7 ($43.3 million).
Around the world, Jurassic World has continued its runaway success.
In reaching $US1.24 billion, it has overtaken Iron Man 3 to become the eighth highest-grossing movie of all time, without taking inflation into account.
While Ted 2 had a disappointing opening in the US last weekend, Australian audiences gave it a solid result. It took $4.3 million with a healthy average of $8200 a cinema.
Of the big animated movies that have opened for the school holidays, Minions took another $3.9 million to reach $11.2 million, while Inside Out added $3.2 million to reach $8.9 million.
On a more limited release, positive reviews propelled the Thomas Hardy adaptation Far From The Madding Crowd to a solid $607,000 ($667,000 including previews) from just 74 cinemas.
