Due to increased playing numbers over the past 12 months the band no longer had enough uniforms for everyone to wear and thanks to ACE the band has been able to purchase new jackets and ties, embroidered with the band's logo.
The band wore the new uniforms for the first time on Anzac Day and secretary Sandra Pope said she has received many compliments on how fantastic the band looked marching down Barkly Street.
"The band has come a long way in the past 18 months and Anzac Day was a real highlight for us," she said.
"As well as participating in the morning service, for the first time the band was invited to perform at the Dawn Service."
Despite the cold and wet weather the band performed a number of hymns at the dawn service and followed this up with the street march to the cenotaph, and hymns and the national anthems at the morning service.
The day was concluded with principal cornet, Sandra Pope, sounding the Last Post prior to the Ararat versus Stawell football match at Alexandra Oval.
The band currently has 27 students in the development program. While aimed at primary and secondary aged children, there are also three parents and one grandparent who have decided to join with their children and learn an instrument.
"On one rehearsal night recently, we had over 50 people in the bandroom, 28 juniors and 23 in the senior band, a fantastic effort," Mrs Pope said.
