Satirist John Oliver, who once called prime minister Tony Abbott a "car crash of a human being", is to bring his live show to Australia for the first time.

Oliver will perform stand-up in Melbourne and Sydney in August.
English-born Oliver is best known for his HBO show Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, which grew out of his appearances on Jon Stewart's Daily Show.
Oliver is a self-proclaimed fan of Australia, having visited here in 2013 to make a three-part story on gun control for the Daily Show.
"I think one of the reasons I felt so comfortable in Australia is because I like the underdog mentality, because it means that you're punching up all the time," he told Fairfax News earlier this year.
He is also something of a connoisseur of our politics, especially the performance of the current prime minister.
"It's like watching a truck jack-knife on a road," Oliver said. "It's like, 'It didn't crash this time. Let's give it five minutes, then it's going into a ditch'."
Asked why Oliver was doing only two dates in Australia, a spokeswoman said it was simply a reflection of the comedian's crushing schedule.
She added that any extra dates would be unlikely and expected the two shows to sell out "very quickly".
Tickets for the shows, on August 27 (Melbourne) and August 30 (Sydney) go on sale on May 11 via Ticketmaster.
