Federal Member for Wannon, Dan Tehan said the event will be a good chance for the region's business people to discover how the North Asia Free Trade Agreements can benefit their business.

"The landmark Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) - secured by the Abbott Government with three of the biggest economies in Asia - offer exciting new opportunities for businesses right here in Wannon," he said.

"The agreements with Japan, Korea and China provide preferential access to a market of over 1.5 billion people - putting our home-grown businesses in the driver's seat in these lucrative Asian markets.

"I will be co-hosting a seminar with the Minister for Small Business Bruce Billson here in the electorate (I encourage you to register at www.austrade.gov.au/ftaseminars) which is designed to equip existing and potential exporters with information on how to make the most of the FTA's.

Mr Tehan said the seminar aims to equip people with the information to help realise the benefits created by the China, Korea and Japan FTAs including:

"So whether you specialise in manufacturing, food production or service provision; whether you're an SME or just starting out in business; the seminars are designed to equip you with the information needed to leverage the opportunities created by the FTAs," Mr Tehan said.

"Trade specialists will be on hand to offer targeted advice and assistance on how to identify opportunities and navigate the export market.

The seminar will be held at the Alexandra Oval Community Centre, Ararat on Thursday, April 23 at 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start.
