Bulleting his way through the field, Pride Of Dubai emerged victorious and at the same time underlined his undoubted chances in this year's Golden Slipper Stakes, the premier juvenile event.

And for jockey Damian Browne, his association with Victorian racing and group 1 events in this state continued with a clever ride to manoeuvre his way to success.

"Mark [Zahra] tried to shut the gate on him [Pride Of Dubai] but we managed to get through and once he saw daylight he never for a moment gave up the task," Browne said. "It is interesting the fortune I have when I come to Melbourne, and in major races, and here at Caulfield. I hope it continues."

The former Kiwi jockey identified Pride Of Dubai two weeks ago as a threat to topple short-priced pre-race favourite Fontiton.

Browne told the media that he was encouraged with Pride Of Dubai's last 200m and that he would excel when he gets the 1200m of the Blue Diamond.

"It's been a wonderful day for the stable, a wonderful day for the sheikh and a great ride by Damian," co-trainer Paul Snowden said.

"We'll sit down tonight and have a very good think about it; he's a horse that's worth a lot of money now and we'll have to look very much at the Golden Slipper.

"Ironically Mark Zahra was offered the ride on Pride Of Dubai first, but he of course was connected to the favourite."

And while Pride Of Dubai would have been unlucky, the run of the race was the staggering performance of the David Hayes-trained youngster Reemah who looked certain to win with 30m to go but appeared to die on her run.

Having just her third start Reemah was back in the last three coming to the turn and appeared hopelessly out of contention.

Jockey Chris Symons moved the horse to the middle of the track and after then having to avoid traffic in the final 300m, joined in and was narrowly beaten.

While the first and second in Saturday's Blue Diamond Stakes had to contend with indifferent runs there were few excuses for the heavily-backed favourite Fontiton.

Unbeaten until Saturday, Fontiton enjoyed a perfect run from her barrier one position and after getting off the fence at a critical point near the 300 Fontiton appeared to labour.

And Lake Geneva, having just her second race start, was another who performed brilliantly and also looked to be a horse of the future.

Another two-year-old Of The Brave suffered his first defeat in the Blue Diamond after showing pace to the turn could not withstand the pressure from those back markers and he soon dropped out.
