After having only six starts and recording a place the mare was in good form despite having only raced a number of times.

Stable hand and first year apprentice Leticia Griffin was in attendance while her master O'Sullivan had other commitments.

"I don't ride her yet, but she has been going pretty well," Griffin said.

"She has had six starts and in those starts she's had a place and now a win so that isn't too bad."

With Dean Holland aboard Our Shakira went forward after a reasonable start and was able to hold on.

Holland had a good day at the small race meeting claiming a win on Rod Symons Red Five later on in the day.

Griffin has just recently been inducted as an apprentice jockey and is looking forward to getting her chance at official race rides later next year.

Our Shakira will most likely continue working through country race meetings and going up in grades.

"I have no idea where she will be next, it won't be a big race I wouldn't think," Griffin said.
