Each branch was part of Red Cross Centenary celebrations in 2014.
The Ararat, Lake Bolac and Elmhurst units of Australia Red Cross were presented with awards.
"This year's award is for an organisation that has given outstanding service to the Ararat Rural City community and has served the Ararat Rural City for 100 years and recently celebrated that milestone," Mayor Cr Paul Hooper said yesterday during Australia Day celebrations in Alexandra Gardens.
"This group of dedicated volunteers continues to provide much needed assistance throughout the year but also recently with the fires located within our region.
"This year is a special award as it goes to three local Red Cross groups within our municipality, and it gives me great pleasure to present the Community Service of the Year award to the Lake Bolac Red Cross, Elmhurst Red Cross and Ararat Red Cross."
Accepting the awards on behalf of their units were Careen Keyte for Lake Bolac unit, Helen Carruthers for Elmhurst unit and Norm Clark for the Ararat unit of Red Cross.
