MOYSTON/WILLAURA premiership winning midfielder Luke Thomas capped off a brilliant 2014 season in the Mininera and District Football League by winning the Pumas’ best and fairest award.

Thomas played all 19 matches with the premiers this season, kicking seven goals and being named among the top six performers on nine occasions.
The hard at it onballer polled 48 votes to take the top honour ahead of Pumas’ veteran and co-captain Lynden Brewis who received the Sonny O’Conner Memorial runner-up accolade with 37 votes.
Ruckman Josh Bywaterfinished third and received the most consistent trophy.
Other award winners from the successful season were Brady Curran (most determined - Jason Bond Memorial), Aaron Pianta (most improved - Sam Wilde Memorial), Jacob Hamilton (best first year player - Stan Decker Memorial), Riley Hamilton (most promising player under 21 - R&E Marshall Memorial), Josh Day (best defender - Ian Robertson Memorial) and Aaron McKinnis (coaches award).
In the reserves Riley Hamilton was the Simon Lardner Memorial best and fairest winner with 24 votes, two clear of runner-up Clayton Mackley.
Most consistent went to Jeremy Leslie, Jack Nicholson was most determined (Michael Page Memorial), Josh Byron was most improved and the coaches award was won by Ryan Townsend.
Luke Walker was leading goal kicker with 27 majors.
One of the highlights of the night was the awarding of a Moyston/Willaura Football- Netball Club Life Membership to stalwart John Vanderwaal for his years of dedicated service to the club as a player, committee member and coach.
Under-16 vice captain Ford Guthrie took out the Les Bright best and fairest award, with Harrison Cronin runner-up (Ron Kent Memorial).
Other award winners were Shane Gannon (most consistent), Caleb O’Reilly (best team player - Chris Reid Memorial) and Cronin (leading goal kicker), Declan Bamford- Webster (most improved), while coaches John Vanderwaal and Simon Orszaczki’s awards went to Jack Dowling and Zac Chick.
In the Pumas’ netball Katy Jewell was the best and fairest winner, ahead of runner-up Zanetta Hosking.
B grade’s top honour went to Jaiden Bach and runner-up to Rommy Nicht, Kate Pitcher was C grade champion from Caitlin Baird, while in the juniors Katie Pearce topped the 17 and unders and Kiara Pitcher was the 15 and under winner.
