The Giraffe Award is designed to reward Ararat businesses that are prepared to 'stick their neck out'.

It rewards business owners and operators who have shown the courage and initiative in striving to further enhance and grow their business

Nastassja Zaadstra, who is the owner and artist in residence, said her goal had been to open her own art gallery for a few years, and this shop was a gallery, gift shop and studio, based around native birds and wildlife.

She thanked the Ararat Rural City Council for the award and also her family for their support and the customers for their support in purchasing her signature paintings.
