Despite the cooler weather, last Tuesday's meeting still attracted a crowd of more than 100 to NMIT Ararat Park with an even eight races seeing no trainer or jockey claim a double.
Kicking off proceedings was in-form Ballarat trainer Darren Weir, who combined with champion country hoop Dean Yendall for the first win of the day with Toakio Tower.
It was an easy win for three-year-old gelding Orlando Jack in race two, with the maiden winner far too good for the rest of the field to salute by three and a half lengths.
Aussie Creed put a smile on trainer Tony Logan's face when it ran on strongly to take out race three, while in race four Panarea turned the widest of the field coming into the straight but took honours in a strong first up performance.
In one of the closest finishes of the day Reigning Meteor (Matthew Williams) held off I'm the Goodes (Tony Parker) to take out race five by a nose.
Race six saw outsider Polkaface too strong for the Peter Moody trained Classy Ruby, which finished second by two and a half lengths with 2014 Great Western Cup winner Spanish Vixen (Paul Jones) rounding out the trifecta.
Fresnel for Stawell trainer Terry O'Sullivan streaked home to win by more than four lengths in the penultimate race of the day, with Lourdeaux (Sue Naylor) the final winner on the card by a head.
