Ghost Hosts will take guests deep within the bluestone walls to discover the home of Australia's criminally insane. Explore the governor's bathroom, hangman's gallows, original kitchen, showerblock, grave sites, West Wing, J Ward Block, exercise yards and grounds in search of the souls that still linger. Learn of governors who have murdered inmates, prisoners buried in the grounds and the many souls trapped within these walls - all on the scariest night of the year - Halloween.
Halloween's origins date back 2,000 years ago to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when animals were slaughtered and crops harvested in preparation for the long, cold winter months ahead. The Celts adorned themselves with animal skins and lit fires and bonfires to ward away evil spirits. Those who had lost loved ones would leave food and drink out for the departed and light candles to help them find their way to the spirit world.
Lantern Ghost Tours paranormal investigator Jacqui says she hasn't seen any of her guests catch their loved one on Halloween but has seen plenty of paranormal encounters.
"The wall between the living and the dead is at its thinnest on Halloween which means spirits find it easy to make contact," she said.
