Here is your opportunity to witness one of the biggest scams in horse racing history, as part of the Ararat Theatre Company's end-of-year show.
The Paradise Club has been written by local playwrights, John Mawson and Rob Smith and it is a theatre/restaurant show aimed both at mature and broad-minded people.
It is being directed by the playwrights and is set in Australia in the 1930s.
Apart from its connections with horse racing, you might say it exposes the underbelly of gangsterism, crime and corruption at that time, but in an absolutely hilarious way.
The Paradise Club will prove to be something excitingly different for you, or for your Christmas breakup, or for a social outing for your workplace, and you are now invited to book a table, or individual tickets, for this fantastic production.
There are lots of songs to sing-along to and it also has a couple of great songs especially written for the production.
Like all of ATC's end-of-year shows, this one has a big cast, with the following actors all getting their chance to shine.
It stars Darryl Lowerson, Shane Woods, Iestyn Opie, Georgina Opie, Debi Colley, Sarah Thewlis, Leanne Thewlis, Matt Ward, Jill Deneys, Grant Johnson, Richard Draper, Bryan Kennedy, Jan Pope, Tamsin O'Neill, Jodie Holwell, Bec Pobjoy, Dianne Steele, Doug Koschel, Jenny Lelieveld, Derek Pope, Charlie Millear, Jonah Whatley, John Marriott, John Steele, Rennie Hannan, Andrew Evans, Libby Johnston, Mary Reid and with Dave Colley as stage manager and Sue O'Neill as prompt.
Here is your chance to celebrate with your friends or workmates and have a chat over a great meal, while laughing yourself silly over the antics happening onstage.
The show will be staged in Ararat - at the Ararat Performing Arts Centre - on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22, with the doors opening at 7pm and the shows starting at 7.30pm.
To add some further excitement to the show please feel free to dress according to the 1920s or 1930s.
You may book any number of tickets (seating is at tables of 10) and individual or smaller group bookings are also very welcome.
A two-course smorgasbord meal, catered by Fabulous Feast, will be served throughout the evening. Please BYO drinks, glasses and nibbles.
Bookings will be taken on a first-in basis and the cost, per head, is $40.
For tickets to the Ararat shows, please get on your telephone and call 5352 1066.
There will also be three out-of-town shows, with Lake Bolac set for November 14, Elmhurst set for Saturday, November 15 and Moyston set for Friday, November 28.
If you have any questions about the show or about any of ATC's activities, please ring Doug on 5352 5386 or 0402 880068.
