The Ararat College Student Representative Council conducted a staff versus students Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease research in the final week of term three.
Students were able to challenge teachers in activities for a cost of 50 cents which ranged from table tennis, golf, Frisbee, tennis, four square, chess, Pokemon battles, Weet Bix eating, Jenga, cricket and tennis.
Students also donated a gold coin for being out of uniform.
The afternoon ended with the Ice Bucket Challenge, with seven staff and seven students volunteering to take the challenge depending on who won the fundraising events for the day.
At the end of the day the staff raised more funds than the students which meant that the seven year 12 SRC representatives, Brad Woods, Sam Dunn, Toni Saunders, Joel Hughes, Bec Hinchliffe, Bryan Start and Naomi Skubnik succumbed to a dousing of ice water.
The College raised $593 for Motor Neurone Disease research, the best fundraising effort by students in recent years and a great way to end the term.
