IT was a tight finish at the Chalambar Golf Club's ladies' stableford last Wednesday, with Goldie Rowe narrowly claiming victory.

Rowe finished the event with 34 points to take honours ahead of runner-up Trish Heard on 32 points, who held off Joy Cronin in a count back.
A total of 26 players contested the event.
Nearest the pins for the day were won by Rene Hamilton (2nd), Ruth Gellert (8th), Jenny Conboy (16th) and Sandi Shaw (18th).
Shaw was the winner of last Monday's stableford, which saw a field of 19 players compete.
Shaw scored 20 points to claim the winners' prize, with Maryanne Harricks runner-up on 18 points following a count back with Heather Hevey.
Marilyn Brady was nearest the pin on the sixth hole.
A third count back was required in last Saturday's stableford, with Joyce Shearer named the winner on 33 points ahead of Hamilton (32).
Nearest the pin went to Penny Brown.
Tomorrow's event is a stroke/brooch and will also see a playoff for the Captain's Trophy, with those eligible being Gayle Dadswell, Joyce Shearer, Marilyn Brady, Marg Brehaut, Elaine Richie, Maree Dalgleish, Joy Cronin, Helen Tucker and Marg Peoples who have all won monthly medals.
Tee off time is 10am, while the Chalambar ladies are also gearing up for the Drummond Day tournament to be held on Friday, October 10.
