Chief executive officer Andrew Evans nominated Cr Hooper when he himself felt the ice-cold chill a couple of weeks ago.
"It wasn't too bad, thankfully for me they went easy on the ice," Cr Hooper said.
While not personally affected by Motor Neurone Disease, Cr Hooper said he can't help but be touched by the sufferers' plight.
"While I don't have any absolute personal connection to it, I am aware of Dr Bertuch and (Neale) Daniher and you can't help but feel moved," he said.
"It is a debilitating disease and I was very happy to do my bit to ensure we do all we can as a society to properly resource research into treatment."
Well known Ararat doctor Graeme Bertuch is currently living with Motor Neurone Disease. Australian Football League (AFL) identity Neale Daniher revealed his diagnosis in August.
The social media phenomenon's success has been underpinned by its harmless, simplistic but very effective nature. In Australia, more than $2 million has been raised.
Motor Neurone Disease is a group of diseases in which the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow undergo degeneration and die.
The average life expectancy is between two to three years from diagnosis.
