The Grampians Community Health Service Community Car received a donation of $1000 while the Ararat Fire Brigade received new equipment from Hotondo Homes' Community Support Program after home builders in both Stawell and Ararat nominated these services as the recipients of the fund.

"We feel quite strongly about giving back to the communities we build homes in," sales manager Joel Spence said.

"There are many worthy causes within the local area and we are happy that we have the opportunity to support many of these, especially the ones close to our clients' hearts.

"This program is offered with every new home we build and our clients are given the opportunity to nominate a local group or cause they would like the donation to go towards."

Hotondo Homes has donated more than $20,000 since the program first began, with funds going to projects for community groups, clubs, schools and kindergartens.

The Ararat Fire Brigade has benefited from the acquisition of new equipment, with new home builder Michelle Harrington nominating the brigade as recipient of the donation.

Hotondo donated two Protek 366 branches, which are selectable flow branches that members can use to combat all varieties of fires and they can also use them to conserve water.

Ararat Fire Brigade captain Greg Taylor said these branches are used in the end of a hose and the equipment they receive will be used on the brigade's pumper, particularly for structure fire attacks.

"They are fairly adjustable, from a straight flow to a nice fog and they are also light and easy to use," Mr Taylor said.

"They will be used to replace equipment we currently have on the pumper."

Sara and Luke Bowen from Stawell are currently in the process of having their home built in Stawell by Hotondo Homes and nominated Grampians Community Health Service's Community Car Program because they were impressed with the service.

The Volunteer Transport Program is a network of volunteer drivers available to provide transport assistance in specific circumstances and provide transport assistance for people who do not have access to private transport, are not eligible for assistance through other services, and do not have appropriate available public transport to enable access to the nearest practical point of service within the region.

"I have grandparents who didn't have access to this program at the time they needed it," Ms Bowen said.

"I wasn't aware that this service was available at the time. It is such a fantastic cause."
