Stage one of construction of the public fitness assets has seen the townships of Tatyoon, Willaura, Pomonal and Moyston get the first taste of the outdoor exercise experience.
The workout stations which are located in the township's recreation reserves are available to the public to use at any time and are designed to assist communities to become and remain active.
Ararat Rural City Mayor, Cr Paul Hooper said the Leaps and Bounds project will help to ensure more people are more active, more often.
"As we all know, if you are active your chances of developing a wide range of preventable disease is significantly reduced," he said.
"The Leaps and Bounds equipment will assist our communities to keep healthier, happier and fitter."
The Victorian State Government contributed $60,000 towards the Leaps and Bounds project which has been funded through the Community Facilities Funding Program.
The equipment chosen as part of the Leaps and Bounds project has been carefully designed to ensure that when you work out you will get an upper body, lower body, strength and cardio workout.
The workout stations are suited to all levels of fitness, from beginner to advanced levels and have been provided with full instructions for use as part of the signage attached.
"Recreation reserves are in many cases the hub of the town and receive significant support from locals and visitors so the reserves are the ideal location," Cr Hooper said.
The exercise equipment also includes a QR reader for those who wish to use smartphone technology to assist them in their workout.
ARRC has applied for further funding through the Community Facilities Funding Program and if successful that will enable equipment to be installed at Elmhurst, Buangor, Lake Bolac and Streatham in 2015.
