Motor Neurone Disease is a lesser known condition but one that has no treatment, no cure and invariably takes the life of the sufferer within two to three years.
Researchers into both diseases need your money and you can help raise awareness and funds for both diseases over the next few days.
The Cancer Council is urging all Australians to show they care about beating cancer during today’s Daffodil Day by wearing a Cancer Council pin, purchasing some merchandise or even a bunch of fresh Daffodils.
Every Daffodil Day brings us closer to fi nding a cure for this disease.
A number of people in the community are also suffering from Motor Neurone Disease, a group of diseases in which the nerve cells, or neurones, controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breath and swallow, undergo degeneration and die.
Today Ararat’s Kim and Greg Kerr will take part in the world record attempt of the Ice Bucket Challenge at Etihad Stadium to raise awareness for MND, but will also bring the challenge to Ararat next Wednesday where they will be doused with ice cold water to help raise awareness for this disease and funds for research into treatment and ultimately a cure.
We all know someone who is either a sufferer or survivor of cancer and we are always happy to put our hands in our pockets to help fund research into treatment and a cure.
While Motor Neurone Disease is not as well known, researchers also desperately need the support of the community to help find a cure so please support the Ice Bucket Challenge next week.
