It was a seesawing affair with nothing separating the two teams at the end of the night, both locked on three sets and 31 games each.
New player, Nigel Christie impressed with his ability to read the play smartly and consistently place balls with winning effect.
Christie didn't drop a set, with his tall stature and talent helping to lift each of his partners' morale as well.
The best result for McDonalds came in the form of a fourth set win, 8-2 in favour of Alex Drosg and Jim Zwar.
Embroidability went into the final set of the night with a slim two game lead, however McDonald's Drosg and Bruce Doery played well to set up the drawn result.
Carey Covers may not have achieved a greater number of sets, but they finished four games up on Graeme McKay Earthworks.
The match was another close run thing with nothing separating the two teams after the first two sets.
The result was still drawn after the third, before Graeme McKay Earthworks gained the upper hand through claiming the fourth and fifth sets with Andy Ives featuring in both.
However Carey Covers' Paul Melenhurst and Ben Hartwich took a 'show no mercy' approach to the final set of the night and shocked their opposition to win 7-1.
Molloy Bros was competitive, but unable to match it with Ricky Ralph Painting in their clash.
After two drawn sets to start the evening's play, Ricky Ralph's partnership of Nick Bush and Wayne Jerram opened a six game gap with their win in set three.
The fourth set was also drawn before strong performances from Ricky Ralph players in the fifth and six sets put the result beyond any doubt.
In the final contest of the night First National was dominant in its win against Watson Auto Repairs.
Despite a comprehensive 10-3 first set win from Watson Auto's Michael Hope and Ben Pietsch, First National bounced back with similar results in the second and third.
Another big win from Garry Hurst and Chris Hartwich in set five was enough to secure First National a victory.
Tomorrow night Fisher's IGA and J Ward return from the bye, while Ararat RSL are sidelined for the second round in a row.
