The exhibiting makers were given the challenge of creating new work especially for this exhibition in response to the theme of 'Fields and Forests'.
This has resulted in charming selection of pieces which extend from whimsical dolls, folk art inspired button pictures and embroidered landscapes.
This diverse group of beautiful works is testament to the skills of branch members and their ability to combine respect for tradition while extending the boundaries of embroidery.
'Fields and Forests' continues until August 19.
The Ararat branch has been dedicated to teaching new skills involving embroidery, patchwork and creative textile work in the Ararat community for almost 30 years.
The branch is active in encouraging people with an interest in textile craft and welcomes new members, including beginners, at its monthly meetings.
The branch offers monthly classes as well as activities such as day trips to other branches, shopping trips to Melbourne and visits to exhibitions.
In partnership with the Ararat Regional Art Gallery, branch members share their skills through the presentation of monthly 'Needles and Pins' textile classes for children.
'Needles and Pins' supports primary school aged children to learn textile craft skills and has been popular since it was established five years ago.
