The Ararat Theatre Company is staging three one-act plays this year and is spreading them over four separate festivals, Mount Players (Macedon) on Saturday, July 26, Ararat on Saturday, August 2, Anglesea on Saturday, August 16 (or Sunday, August 17) and Kyneton on September 6.
Best Served Cold was staged only once in 2013 so it has been given a second chance in 2014. It has been written by Sandy Fairthorne and it is, once again, being directed by Dave Colley.
It stars Rennie Hannan, Libby Johnston, Debi Colley, Georgina Opie and Bryan Kennedy and it will appear in Macedon, Ararat and Anglesea.
It is a comedy and can be summarised in just six words - Infidelity can lead to strange consequences!
The Strange Case of Mr Blackie has been written by Ararat's Rob Smith and it will be staged in Ararat, Anglesea and Kyneton.
It is being directed by John Mawson (with assistance from Rob Smith) and it stars John Steele, Iestyn Opie, Georgina Opie, Dani Stephenson, Tamsin O'Neill and John Marriott.
It is a comedy and in just two words is a court case!
The third play will showcase a lot of our younger actors.
Governing Alice has been written by C D Swanson and it will hit the stage in Macedon and Ararat.
It is being directed by Bryan Kennedy and it will highlight the talents of Samantha Dunn, Sarah Thewlis, Shane Woods, Mae-Lisa Hannan, Jonah Whatley, Emily Dunn, Aaron Dunn, Bryan Kennedy and John Mawson.
Through a series of flashbacks, Alice finally comes to terms with a tragedy which affects all the members of her family and her school.
Many festivals this year (including Ararat) have suffered due to a lack of entries, so it is vitally important that lovers of theatre get along to support the many actors involved.
The Ararat Theatre Company is proud to support all of its actors in the one-act play festivals and always welcomes new members.
