What’s on around Ararat today:

Lake Bolac Music Club presents "Opportunity Knocks"  beginning today in the Lake Bolac Memorial Hall. The show is a Musical Comedy by Judith Prior in association with David Spicer productions. Tonight's performance begins at 6.30pm with theatre style seating at $15 per person, $10 concession. All bookings and enquiries through the Lake Bolac Post Office - 5350 2210.

Ararat Rural City Council will hold a Special Council Meeting tonight at 5pm at the Shire Hall, Barkly Street. Council will consider submissions on the Draft Budget 2014/2015.

What’s on around Ararat this weekend:

"Opportunity Knocks" Saturday's session will commence at 7.30pm with $25 per person and supper provided. BYO Drinks (please note all bookings to go through Lake Bolac Post Office for catering purposes).

Saturday's  local footy matches include the Ararat Eagles at Alexandra Oval taking on Woorndoo/Mortlake, Tatyoon and Wickliffe/Lake Bolac will go head to head at Tatyoon, Great Western hosts Lismore/Derrinallum and at Mininera it will be SM&W Rovers up against Hawkesdale/Macarthur.

Bird is the word on Sunday, with the Ararat Bird Sale taking place at Alexandra Hall from 11am. Admission is $2 and enquires can be made to 5461 2158, while at Gum San Conference Centre from 9.30am to 3pm a leading woodland bird expert will conduct a workshop.
