Ms Skrabl (who writes under the name of Bec McMaster) launched her first book, 'Kiss of Steel' in 2012 and has gone on to publish a series of novels with Sourcebooks, an American publishing company.
During the workshop, Ms Skrabl discussed a variety of topics including show versus tell, character building and working a plot. She also talked about the way she manages her own writing.
The afternoon proved to be not only informative but valuable as some of the members of the group are in the process of writing novels. While not all members write novels, everyone was able to take something worthwhile away from the workshop.
The Grampians Writers are an Ararat/Stawell group with members coming from as far as Horsham and Ballarat. The group usually meets on the second Sunday of the month at Great Western Primary School. However for the June meeting, the group will be visiting Stawell Railway Station Art Gallery.
