Mark Bresciano revealed he's been offered a chance to join Melbourne Heart as their Australian marquee player next season.
The Socceroo veteran is in Brazil with the national team for the 2014 World Cup but told Goal.com before leaving that he has been approached by the cashed-up Heart with a view of becoming their new domestic marquee. Bresciano has strong links with Melbourne Heart having trained with the club while under suspension for a breach of transfer regulations this year and had contact from their coach John Van't Schip about making a permanent move.
After being bought out by the owners of English Premier League club Manchester City, Heart will have plenty of resources to offer marquee players but it may not be enough to lure Bresciano away from Qatari club Al Gharafa in the off-season. Bresciano spoke of his preference to see out the remainder of his contract with Al Gharafa before returning to Australia.
"Honestly? There has," Bresciano told Goal.com "But I still have one more year in Qatar with Al Gharafa. And I would want to probably go back there and finish my contract there. The things that happened, I want to stay loyal to them. They did help me through the bad situations and this is my way to thank them. Just to go back there and finish the season with them."
