New Probus executive elected

ARARAT - Merle Brain has been elected to lead the Ararat Ladies' Probus Club in 2014, now in its 25th year.

Mrs Brain was elected alongside secretary Margaret Dunmore and treasurer Eva McNulty as the executive of this year's committee at the annual meeting.

The Ararat Ladies' Probus Club meet on the third Thursday of each month and this year membership has topped 75 ladies. The group meets at 10am at the Ararat West Uniting Church and following the meeting there is morning tea and a guest speaker.

Members also enjoy day trips, which in the last 12 months have included visits to Old Dadswell Village then onto Halls Gap for a barbecue lunch, Christmas in July at Creswick including a visit to the woollen mills, Warracknabeal in September for a tour of the town with a guide, a mystery trip, sing along at Casterton, Warrnambool and a movie screening.

The group also enjoys a variety of guest speakers each month, ranging across a variety of topic and interests.
