Ararat - With the sun shining and a sea of pink spread across Richardson Oval, close to 500 people set off on the sixth annual Ararat Mother's Day Classic.

Over the past six years Ararat residents have helped raise more than $50,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Committee member Colleen White said this year they were inundated with on-the-day registrations.
"The atmosphere was fantastic with Kelli Holtham-Felini reading an emotional dedication that included her own personal journey, then she was joined by Sharon Basset from The Biggest Loser for the warm up," Ms White said.
This year saw the largest number of runners participate since the event started six years ago, with almost 100 runners registering to be timed.
Paul Fenn and Emma Coburn were first to cross the line in the 8km event with Sam Summers and Ruby Klemm successful in the 4km event.
"Our small committee would like to thank everyone that attended and contributed to a really special day where once again the community of Ararat and surrounding towns came together to raise funds for an important cause whilst getting outside and being active with their loved ones," Ms White said.
"It's a fantastic way to spend Mother's Day morning and we really appreciate everyone's support."
