Volunteers collected $32,144.70 across the Ararat region on Good Friday, contributing to the overall appeal total this year of $16,846,396.09, which was yet another record.
Ararat Fire Brigade representative Greg Taylor was pleased with the final total, which he said was in line with the increase in the overall appeal total.
"I'm not sure why the total was up this year, people just seemed to be more generous this year," he said.
More than 50 volunteers spent the day travelling around Ararat collecting donations accompanied by fire trucks and buses provided by Christians, Ray Hopper and Ararat Rural City Council.
The entire city of Ararat was visited by the tin shakers while Murray Woods and his friends Mickey and Goofy made their annual pilgrimage to Moyston and Green Hill Lake.
The damp weather didn't deter either the volunteers or those digging deep.
"We had a shower in the morning but after lunch it turned out to be an excellent sort of day and we had finished by mid afternoon," Mr Taylor said.
Mr Taylor thanked volunteers and those who donated goods and services on the day.
"It was a good turn out of volunteers, the day went well and it was well organised," he said.
"We'd like to thank the community for their generous effort this year, which saw us raise more than past years."
Funds raised for the appeal from venues across Ararat throughout the year are as follows:
Safeway - $5000; Aradale Golf Club - $1510; Aradale Bowls Club - $1277; Mickey/Goofy - $957.75; Easter Bunny - $997.75; Ararat Hotel - $515.95; Ararat RSL - $563.40; Leopold Hotel - $479.65; Court House Hotel - $501.90; Central Hotel - $312; Chalambar Golf Club - $319.50; High Street traffic lights - $3137.45; Barkly Street traffic lights - $2986.50.
