Barkly street collision - driver fined

ARARAT - The driver of a car has been fined after a collision between a vehicle and a truck in Barkly street on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the busy Barkly street and Vincent street intersection just after 5pm after they were alerted to the incident.

It is believed the truck was attempting to turn left into Vincent street from the middle lane due its wide load.

While doing so the vehicle has also attempted to turn left from the inside lane despite the truck having the right of way due to its wide load.

As a result both vehicles have impacted one another and the red car has come off second best sustaining minor damage.

The driver was issued with a penalty notice as it is an offence to overtake a vehicle with displaying a 'do not overtake turning vehicle' sign.
