Myscal Magnum ‘reins’

ARARAT - Myscal Magnum has outclassed a strong field to be judged best in its class at the 2014 Royal Melbourne Horse Show.

A record 4,483 entries were received in 2014, once again making the Royal Melbourne Horse Show Australia's largest and most prestigious horse breed show.

Myscal Magnum's triumph in the categories: champion lead riding pony entire (stallion) and Arabian riding pony (stallion) comes on the back of being judged best in show at last year's Royal Hobart Show.

Owner Daniel Taylor said his beloved stallion bettered between 20 and 30 other prized horses to take out the awards in each section.

He said New South Wales judge Sue Oberge who presided over the Arabian Derivatives in awarding Magnum the championship highlighted his 'quality piece of gear'.

Myscal Magnum will now gear up for the Adelaide Autumn Royal Breed Show in March before its in hand career comes to an end.

In the off season under saddle work will commence before the task of passing on the qualities that have made him an interstate champion begins.

"The first of the foals arrived last month and were are expecting 10 this year that hopefully Myscal will pass all his traits onto," he said.

Mr Taylor said the Allenmore Stud farm has been lucky to have such a consistent performer that has netted the stable so much success.

"His temperament is among the best and in essence he never lets us down. He is a real honour to own," he said.
