The former Fiscalini changing rooms building was demolished before Christmas in order to make way for the two new buildings.
The two buildings that are being constructed at the site include the community building, which will consist of a community space, commercial kitchen, canteen, bar, meeting room, office and toilets, and the change rooms building, which will consist of male change rooms, female change rooms, umpires' change facility, time keeper's box, first aid room and office space.
Site excavation works for these two buildings has occurred, and the first concrete slab has now been poured (for the community building). Pouring of the concrete slab for the change rooms building is expected to occur soon and the community can also now see the steel framework for the community building.
"In anticipation of the new complex the rec-reserve has been a hive of activity with multiple sporting groups working alongside each other in a cooperative way," Mayor Cr Paul Hooper said.
The project is being funded by both Federal and State Governments, Ararat Rural City Council, Ararat Community Enterprise, Alexandra Oval Committee of Management and the community are also contributing financially to the project.
Works are programmed for completion in September, subject to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
