Willaura Market celebrates

WILLAURA - The Willaura Market will celebrate its 10th year on Sunday, having grown over the last few years to include many more stalls, musical performances and circus acts.

This market can't be missed, it's a great day out, with delicious food, lively entertainment and great market stalls.

"This is the 10th year of the market and we will have a special performance by local band SOFT, with performers Ruth and Ziggy Strauja, both staff members of the health services, sure to keep the crowd entertained with their vast range of music," Willaura Market coordinatoJane Millear said.

"We are also very fortunate to have the Ararat City Band perform and entertain throughout the day."

"We have created a new family area, making it a family friendly area where parents can sit and relax with a coffee and cake, while their children visit the mobile zoo and jumping castle.

"The market has more than 30 stalls this year, with a wide range of goods for sale, including fudge, freshly made ice-cream, plants for the garden, Willaura Candle Company, Goatsmilk Soaps and Skincare, Helen Fluer Designs, olive oil, wool products, art and craft, children's clothing and gorgeous homewares, handmade jewellery, Lana's Garden Products, local produce and preserves, homemade chocolates and much, much, more."

Ararat 800 Primary School teacher Christine Fiscalini said the circus act 'Bamboozle' has become a fixture at the market over the past few years and this year will be no different.

"The students have been training rigorously for their next performance at this year's Willaura Market," she said.

"The students have been working hard on all their tricks and movements to dazzle the crowd in a performance that should impress all who attend this year's festivities."

East Grampians community liaison officer Danny Drake said to date the Willaura Health Care Auxiliary has raised money to help purchase such things as new curtains for the hostel bedrooms, raised garden beds for the residents to grow and enjoy their own flowers and vegies, folding wheel chairs, outdoor furniture, DVD players, and a blood testing machine just to name a few.

"This is a terrific effort by the Willaura Health Care Auxiliary and is a credit to this group of hardworking volunteers," he said.

Mr Drake said the Grampians Vintage Car Club will be displaying cars on the day of the market. The club has cars of all makes and models with vehicles ranging from the early twenties up to unique current models. For further information or if would like to discuss joining the club please contact Geoff Bullock or talk to any of the members that will be at the Willaura market.

"So come along and enjoy a great day out in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and support the local health service at this year's market day," he said.

"The market will conclude the day by the drawing of its major market raffle with prizes including an accommodation package at Mountain View Motor Inn, a Greenvale Meat Package, and Elegant Kitchen Boards and Cheese Knife set."

The market runs from 10am and concludes 2pm."
