ARARAT - Police are investigating the similarities between two attempted car break-ins in Ararat last month.
The first occurred in the car park of Kingdom Hall on the corner of Elizabeth and Gordon Streets some time between 7.15pm and 9.30pm on Thursday, September 26. The occupants of the vehicle were attending a church service when a crowbar was used to pop open the rear window. The glove box and fuse box panel was also accessed but nothing taken. $200 worth of damage was caused to the vehicle.
In the second incident two offenders were chased from the scene of an attempted car break-in in Mountain View Court. Between midnight and 1am on Saturday, September 28 a car parked in a car port at the property was targeted.
A crowbar was again used in an attempt to open a rear window of the vehicle, instead it was shattered causing $150 worth of damage.
A witness has reported chasing two people - a male and female from the scene after disturbing them in the middle of the act. Both offenders are described as 5ft six inches, wearing dark hooded jumpers and aged in their mid teens.
