ARARAT - Parents, carers and pre-schoolers are invited to participate in Ararat's Biggest Playgroup during Children's Week.
All local and regional playgroup participants are invited to celebrate with rhyme, rhythm and song, face painting and delicious food. Parents, carers and children from all over the municipality are welcome.
Songs and rhymes for young children have been passed down for generations. They are fun, children love them and they provide a warm nurturing experience between parent or carer and child. What you may not be aware of as you recite simple nursery rhymes or sing songs with children, is that they have an enormous educational value. Experts in literacy and child development have discovered that if children know eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they are four years old they are usually among the best readers at the age of eight.
Following nursery rhymes, children can enjoy face painting while parents meet Reece Duncan, a nutritionist who will talk informally about healthy eating for families. There will also be a scrumptious lunch provided with great food available for everyone.
The morning is targeted to playgroups but parents or carers with a pre-schooler are more than welcome to come along. The aim is to make this Ararat's Biggest Playgroup so come and enjoy the fun!
The event will take place during Children's Week on Thursday October 24 from 11am to 12.30pm.
Please contact Ararat Regional Library on 5352 1722 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to register for the event. The morning is free though bookings are essential to assist with catering requirements. Ararat Library looks forward to your visit so please come and enjoy the fun and be part of Ararat's Biggest Playgroup.
