UFC veteran Pat ‘HD’ Barry is said to be making his way to Brisbane, appearing on the undercard of December’s fight between Aussie Mark Hunt and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva.
Barry, who has a combined 41 fights in professional kickboxing and mixed martial arts, is renowned for his reckless and big-hitting style.
WAToday has revealed Perth fighter Soa "The Hulk" Palelei, a 6'4" heavyweight, has verbally agreed to take on the dangerous striker on December 7.
Palelei (19-3) is coming off a gritty third round TKO victory over Nikita Krylov his return to the UFC after a six-year exodus.
The 36-year-old demonstrated incredible heart to defeat his younger opponent after sustaining a broken rib in the opening minutes of the bout.
Barry, a two-time fight of the night and two-time knockout of the night winner in the UFC, is coming off a knockout loss to rising prospect Shawn Jordan.
A former professional kickboxer, Barry is one of the more colourful UFC fighters on the roster and is renowned for his fast-paced attack.
Palelei will be the third Australian fighter to be named on the Brisbane card.
Hunt and Silva will be the five-round heavyweight main event, while James Te Huna will take on former UFC light-heavyweight champion and Pride legend Shogun Rua in the light-heavyweight division.
