ARARAT - Green Hill Lake will have an extra attraction for users this summer with a brand new playground to be installed in the coming weeks.
Green Hill Lake Development Board member, Gwenda Allgood said the play equipment, with includes a spiral climbing structure, will be very modern.
"It is something that is very new and there are very few of them around Victoria at the moment is what I am told," she said.
"So I am sure it will give children plenty of joy when it is installed."
Land for the new playground has been prepared and the equipment was due to be delivered this week.
The play area will be located on the site of the former Rotary tower, which was demolished in 2011.
Cr Allgood said the project had been mainly funded by donations to the development group.
"We always said if we were lucky enough to get donations from lake users that we would put the money towards a playground," she said.
"We also have money from Rotary, Ararat Community Enterprise, Council's community grants program and all up it is about $43,000 so it is a big project."
Good winter rainfall has ensured water in the lake is currently at a reasonable level and will be a welcome sight for users as the weather begins to warm up.
"Right throughout winter we have had people out at the lake and now we can point to the playground as another attraction," Cr Allgood said.
"For families with young children who camp, the new playground is going to be a really big plus."
