ARARAT - Ararat's 75BC, a stationery and cleaning chemical supply company has been awarded the Ararat Rural City Council's Business Development Giraffe Award.
The Giraffe Award was designed to reward Ararat businesses that were prepared to 'stick their neck out' - Rewarding business owners and operators who have shown the courage and initiative in striving to further enhance and grow their business.
The 'B' and 'C' in their business names stands for Billy Cairns and Craig Lennie, the two proprietors of 75BC, who pride themselves on their products, knowledge and desire to give the speediest and best customer service that they can right across the Pyrenees/Grampians region.
The two Scottish lads have been successfully operating the company for the last three years from a private residence, however with the rapid growth of the business and the need to better service their clients, they said that the shop front site was the next obvious step and a great leap forward in servicing their customers.
"We needed more storage and some dedicated office space and it was obvious to have a retail space as well to help meet our customers' needs," Mr Cairns said.
The Giraffe Award winner title is held for three months and proudly displayed in a prominent place, making an excellent talking point for customers and visitors alike.
The previous recipients all became very attached to the Giraffe, with some of them not wanting to let it go.
Ararat's 75BC was also the winner of the Best New Business in the 2011 Grampians Business Awards.
