ARARAT - Investigations have begun in to last night's devastating fire at the Ararat R&B Dry Cleaner's.
The fire took hold in the roof of the business in Vincent Street just after 7pm.
Country Fire Authority crews(CFA) from Ararat, Stawell and as far away as Ballarat responded to the blaze.
CFA District 16 Operations Manager Chris Eagle said he believed up to 70 per cent of the business had been damaged in the fire.
He said CFA along with SES crews had done an amazing job to prevent the fire from spreading to an adjoining printing business.
"The roof of the building was well involved when crews arrived but they were able to contain the flames to just the dry cleaners," he said.
Mr Eagle said up to 60 people were involved in the firefighting effort that lasted two hours until the fire was brought under control shortly after 9pm.
Police have been on site overnight and this morning as they work to determine the cause of the blaze.
