ARARAT - Due to the economic downturn, in particular to the manufacturing industry, which has resulted in a significant reduction in sales for the company, AME Systems has in the past month taken the unfortunate action of a redundancy program involving a number of staff.
General manager Dean Pinniger said continued reduction in sales has now meant that the company has met with staff and come to an agreement to run a four day week across the majority of the business in order to balance capacity to sales levels.
"This action is at this stage envisaged to continue to the end of September and has been well supported by staff across the business," Mr Pinniger said.
"AME Systems remains committed to staff, our customers and suppliers and is managing through this time with a view to remaining a capable, reliable and sustainable business and a valued member of the community as a major employer of people across the region.
"As part of ongoing communication with our staff, management will continue to conduct weekly meetings with all staff and it is hoped that the situation can be rectified as quickly as possible."
