Ararat Classic Cycling Carnival one of the best in the state

Bruce Hamilton said the success of the carnival is largely down to local support.

"Here in Ararat we have one of the best carnivals in the state," he said.

"It is only made possible by the tremendous support from business people in the town.

"It is a great draw card with competitors coming from not just across the state, but across the border as well."

This year Tom Hamilton will be looking to defend his 50 lap Aces scratch victory from 2012.

Several other Ararat riders will ride, with strong local representation in the junior divisions, and plenty of excitement for spectators.

The event caters for people across most ages, with this year's carnival seeing the introduction of racing for under 9s.

The Malaysian Track Cycling team will also compete in the elite men's and women's categories in what can only be a coup for the event.

Eric Van Opstal said it will be a great day's racing.

"The Ararat Club is grateful, as ever, for the loyalty of the many sponsors which makes the event possible."
