Ararat police appeal for information

ARARAT - Police are appealing for information after several thefts in recent days.

Between 12pm Tuesday January 29 and 8am Wednesday January 30 a motor vehicle was stolen from Barkly Street.

The blue Holden Ute has since been recovered, found dumped in Moore Street, with no apparent damage.

In a separate theft, an 80cc Suzuki motorbike was stolen from the Rundle Street area on Monday January 28.

Police are also investigating a burglary at a vacant rural property on the Western Highway.

A 200 kilogram metal lathe was stolen from a shed at the Buangor residence.

It is believed the theft occurred some time between January 21 and 29.

In the final incident, a number of items including underwear and sporting equipment were stolen from a backyard in the Lambert Street area.

The property, valued at $220 was stolen sometime overnight between January 26 and 27.

Police are also reminding people to lock their car doors and keep valuable items such as wallets out of sight with thefts from motor vehicles continuing to occur.
