ARARAT - The Ararat Football Netball Club is calling on members of the community that would like to lend a hand as the 2013 season is approaching very fast.
The club is still looking for people to fill a number of positions on both its football and netball committees, along with a number of small roles that are required on game day.
The Rats are holding a meeting next Wednesday February 6 at their social rooms from 7pm and club chairman Paul Cocking is extending an open invitation to past, present and new members of Ararat.
"We really need the support of everyone to keep the Ararat Football Netball Club moving forward," he said.
"In years gone by we have been left with a growing number of jobs for one person to take on and it is time that some of those commitments are shared around a bit more. It is like the old saying goes 'many hands make light work'.
"This club has been a part of the town of Ararat for more than 140 years and we need the whole community to come together to make sure it is around for another 100-plus years.
"We have always been an active contributor to the community, most recently helping to raise more than $100,000 for various local organisations and charities through our Dancing and Singing with the Stars fundraisers. Now we are looking for a little bit of help from members of our community."
The meeting next week will cover what positions need to be filled and what the various roles will include.
All past and present players are also encouraged to attend the meeting and voice their opinion.
Those who can't attend the meeting but are interested in assisting the club can contact Paul Cocking on 0417 548 211.
