GCA - The battle for second spot on the A grade Grampians Cricket Association ladder will take place this round with Tatyoon up against Youth Club in their two day match starting tomorrow.
Youth Club are currently holding down second spot, but after a superb batting performance that resulted in a win against the previously unbeaten Swifts/Great Western, Tatyoon are breathing down the Clubbers neck in third position.
Youth Club have a bowling attack that can be potent but will need to improve after a lacklustre second innings last week against Buangor.
If Tatyoon bat first, it will be up to Cam Kimber, Jamie Solyom, Steve Le Gassick and Jack Kelly to claim the early wickets, but they face stiff opposition.
Jarred Blandford is in stunning form after posting a century last round, while Andrew McDougall and Lachlan Laidlaw are more than capable of making things difficult for bowlers.
On the flip side, Youth Club also have fine batsmen with century maker, Marcus Marrow set to be joined by Tim Seymour, Jamie Solyom and Matt Delzotto in taking Tatty bowlers Tim McDougall, John Coghlan and Michael Harricks to task.
Buangor will set out to claim another big scalp for the season when they tackle Swifts/Great Western tomorrow in day one of their two day clash.
It is time for Buangor to stand up and prove they are genuine finals contenders and their batsmen should have plenty of confidence after fending off Youth Club last week.
However Tyson Carr, Jack Fraser and Harry Ganley are set to be challenged when they find themselves up against a couple of the Association's premier bowlers, Marc Brilliant and Gary Ranton while Combine youngsters Tom McCord and Jackson Dark also loom dangerously.
Should Swifts/Great Western bat first, they must stamp their authority early and will be looking to James Devery, Sam Cocks and Travis Nicholson to do so.
After taking 13 wickets in the past two rounds, Jack Ganley will again spearhead Buangor's bowling attack but he must receive assistance from the likes of Ben Hargreaves, Harry Ganley and Jim Fraser if the home side are able to curb the Combine's batting power.
Pomonal will be out to lift themselves off the bottom of the ladder when they host St Andrews.
Pomonal had a host of their senior players playing B grade cricket due to a bye last round and should be encouraged with their overall performance.
Bowler Lee Oliver was sensational, taking seven wickets in an innings and along with Brett Gay, will attempt to keep Saints batsmen Lauchlan Dalgleish, Matthew North, Tom Schwab and Bart Wilson from making a decent score.
Pomonal's batting is still a worry but if Alex Malligan, Nick Maddison and Robert McKinnon can fire early they may be able withstand Saints James Laidlaw, James Hosking and Jacob Bates.
