ADTA - Big improver Elmhurst has been the form side of the Ararat and District Tennis Association of late, but will the team have enough power to conquer the might of Crowlands?
Arch rivals from back in the day, Crowlands of late has always had the upper hand on its opponents.
However, a change could be coming tonight on the Ararat courts as Elmhurst locks horns with a more vulnerable Crowlands, fresh off its first loss of the season.
Missing some of its stars, Crowlands will turn to the returning Paul Vance, hard hitting duo Hayden Price and Claire Hodgetts, and experienced couple Keith and Mary-Lou Boatman.
If skipper Mal Boatman slips back into the Elmhurst line up then the side should be able to take the points here. Boatman adds strength to assist classy left hander Pat Hall, and the Murrays, Neil and Lyndon.
Jenny Trengove, Amy Harrison and Rachael Murray will try desperately to control the Crowlands' ladies, who may just be a touch better on the day.
Currently in fourth place, if Elmhurst can cause an upset here then its chances of finishing in the top three will be fully alive.
Another game being played at Ararat tonight is the clash between Buangor and Great Western.
Both teams are fresh off a week of success and will be eager to continue on, but there can only be one winner and Buangor is the odds on favourite.
Despite being so good last Saturday, the Westerners will be no match for the powerful Buangor outfit, especially their women.
If the likes of Ann-Maree Driscoll, Laura Maconachie, Erin Hinchliffe, Sue Maconachie, Monique Hargreaves or Gen Rameka line up for Buangor then Great Western's girls will be in trouble.
Although Kacey Kindred, Amanda Bullock, Hannah Shae and Hayley Lugg have all been on the improve it could still be a very challenging day for them.
Daryl Potter, David Cadby, Ash Cooper and Jarred Potter will have a good hit on their hands with Josh Matthews, Michael Adams, Marcus Matthews and possibly 'Mr Buangor' Ian Maconachie.
Buangor should take the points, but Great Western may be able to sneak a few off its opposition if things fall the team's way.
Home side Landsborough has a rather tough encounter tonight with up and coming powerhouse Ararat.
For the first time in over a decade, Landsborough will be using its courts to play under lights, hoping this will help its cause.
Unfortunately for Landsborough it may be a rather dark evening, with Sam Gason, Alex Drosg, Oakley Gason and Ryley Hamilton set to crush their opposition.
Liam Scott's return comes right on time, combining with regulars in captain Karl Scott and local boy Ben Hodgetts to provide some kind of pressure to the Ararat crew.
The battle of the night will be the Claire Monaghan/Jess Hogg/Kira Payne verse Carolyn Matthews/Claire Harricks/Jacqui Ralph clash.
This will be an absolute beauty and on paper is hard to pick a winner.
Ararat's consistency across the board should give the team the win, but how much resilience from the Landsborough tribe will be the telling factor.
