ARARAT - The new season of the Ararat City Tennis Club's Wednesday night men's competition got underway last week.
Christian's Bus Company and Graeme McKay Earthworks played out the closest match of the night, with Christian's taking the win by 12 games.
The first set saw an even match which resulted in a six-all tie, however from that point onwards Christians dictated play to claim the final five sets.
Sam Gason and Mike Connellan got AME's campaign off to a good start with victory over Skinco's John Hannett and Tim Gubbins 8-4 in their opening set, before Skinco hit back with a massive 10-1 win to move ahead.
The next three sets went Skinco's way, putting the match out of reach for AME before the final hit out of the night.
In the third match, Optus dominated Ricky Ralph Painting right across the court, taking all six sets to score an 18-game win.
Ross McGregor and Keenan Hurst were particularly imposing, teaming up to defeat Norm Woodhams and Andy Kalluri 7-1.
The final match saw Rural Steel forfeit to Bendigo Bank.
