ARARAT - There were no surprises in last week's Ararat City Tennis Club pennant.
Ararat RSL and Stan Hamilton and Sons both recorded convincing wins over their opponents, allowing them to maintain first and second positions on the ladder.
The remaining three teams in the competition are all locked on 14 points which should see some exciting matches played out early next year.
Ararat RSL took on Spalding and McCutcheon on Saturday and managed to run out 4-69 to 7-88 victors.
Led by Justin Pelly and Kira Payne, RSL dominated its opening sets.
Pelly served and volleyed strongly all day, while Payne took heart from her mixed doubles tie break to perform well in her ladies' sets as well.
In the second match of the day, Stan Hamilton and Sons reigned supreme over Christian's Bus Co, 8-89 to 3-57.
The Stan Hamilton men proved the winning factor and were just too strong on the day.
Riley Hamilton played particularly well, driving balls deep into opposition territory.
Monique Hargreaves was also impressive for the winning side.
Christian's Bus Co was well served by David Bohner and Jacqui Ralph.
Despite injuring his ankle in the singles' set, Bohner soldiered on to put up an admirable display against aggressive opponent Sam Hoffmann.
Ralph contributed several strong returns of serve which helped reduce Christians' losing margin.
