ARARAT - Local tennis ace Jaimee White has been selected in the University of Ballarat Tennis Academy.
Over the past 18 months the 12-year-old has committed to the sport on a full time basis, with her decision paying dividends.
In addition to receiving selection in the Tennis Academy, Jaimee has represented the Central Highlands in the Foundation Cup at Taralgon.
The event features the best under 13 country tennis players from 12 regional centres across Victoria, with Jaimee eligible to compete again next year.
The Central Highland's team finished in third place and were only beaten by Barwon, the eventual cup winners.
Jaimee has been working hard for her tennis achievements and travels to Ballarat four times a week after school for private coaching and academy training.
She also plays in junior and senior pennants on Saturdays where she comes up against some much older and more experienced players in the Ballarat area.
Three weeks ago, Jaimee had her first success in the board event at the Ballarat Regional Championships, taking out the 12 and under girls singles title after defeating last year's winner, 6-2, 7-6.
Jaimee's next assignment is the Australian ranking points tournament for the K-Swiss school age championship which will commence on December 14.
The budding tennis star will spend a week at Boorandarra in Melbourne for the tournament, before competing in the Sungold grass court championship at Warrnambool the following week.
