ADTA - Victory over Buangor has almost ensured Elmhurst will take part in the Ararat and District Tennis Association finals series.
Previously sitting in fifth place on the ladder, Elmhurst raised the bar against a visiting Buangor to nail a powerful 47 game win.
Elmhurst was far too good for its opponent right across the board, showing no mercy as it claimed maximum points.
Elmhurst dropped just two sets on the day, both in tie-breakers and both won by Buangor's Kate Sanford.
Neil Murray, Shane Pevitt and Cameron Price were flawless in the win, while Kate Woodhams also showed a clean slate for the victors.
Great Western may be sitting in last place, but it showed plenty of fighting spirit against Crowlands on Saturday.
The Westerners were expected to be taken to the cleaners, however they surprised Crowlands by easily claiming the mens section by 19 games.
This is where their reign ended as Crowlands took control, and the match, in its grasp.
Some trying efforts in the mixed sets came undone as Crowlands finished the better by 30 games.
Crowlands stars Jo Price and Kate Vance belted three winners for the afternoon, as did Ararat 'ring-in' Carolyn Matthews, while David Heyme was unstoppable for Great Western.
Ararat Optus sent Landsborough crashing out of the top three with a crushing 38 game defeat.
The home team Boroughs matched it with Optus in several areas, but just couldn't break through for those much needed points.
Optus dominated the men's and ladies sets, taking a 33 game lead into the four remaining mixed matches.
However, as easy as its first sets were, Optus had to fight for points as Landsborough threw up a challenge.
Unbeaten pair Ashleigh Mann and Oakley Gason stood up when needed to guide Ararat to a 10 point whitewash, while three wins also fell Morgan Gason's way.
Father/son duo Ian and Aiden Lee, along with Jess Hogg, were Landsborough's best on a dull day.
Ararat Optus this week faces a rejuvenated Elmhurst, with Crowlands visiting Buangor and Great Western battling with Ararat AME. Landsborough has the bye.
Ladder - Ararat AME 162.5% 84points, Ararat Optus 153.25% 77, Elmhurst 113% 65, Crowlands 133% 64, Landsborough 107% 59, Buangor 59% 27, Great Western 39% 24.
